Weekend Musings – From Marina del Rey, To Big Bear, To NYC and Back

New York City

After being away for three weeks I am happy to say we are back home in LA. While I do love travel, three weeks is about my maximum. Our adventure began with ten days in Big Bear where Fashion Metric worked from a beautiful vacation house in the mountains.

Getting away from it all really can make a big difference and while we ended-up working 12+ hour days in Big Bear, we were able to stay focused and relaxed which resulted in an incredibly efficient week and a half.

Big Bear Lake

The environment that you work in really does impact the quality of your work. I wrote an article about this on Medium.com if you’d like to hear a little more of my reflections on this.

From the serenity of the mountains to the hustle and bustle of the busiest city in the US we fly-into NYC last Thursday night. Fashion Metric will be at New York Fashion Week this year and we had an incredibly busy meeting schedule in NYC getting everything ready.

I think we really did pack just about as many meetings as you possibly can into a single day and finished over 20 meetings over the last week and traversed Manhattan about fifty times. We absolutely love New York City, it has such a great energy, so many amazing people and companies, and some amazing restaurants.

Marina del Rey

That being said there’s no place like home and it feels great to be back home in Marina del Rey. We’ll be replacing the sounds of cars, trucks, and motorcycles with the creaking of the boats and the barking seals that sometimes get so loud we have to close our patio door. I hope you’re all having a nice, relaxing weekend, and enjoy the rest of your Sunday evening.
