Last week I had the chance to try-out a brand new platform, Protrada and I can honestly say I was absolutely blown-away. First things first, what is Protrada? Protrada is a platform for buying, selling, and monetizing your domains, and beyond that it automates a ton of things that many Domainers have done manually, well, forever.
So let’s take a look under the hood and I’ll show you how this new platform can make your life a whole lot easier. Okay, I’ll pause for a moment because I know what you’re thinking now. Morgan – this sounds like a sales pitch and I notice that shiny new Protrada banner on your blog. Yes – Protrada is a new sponsor but I don’t rant and rave about tools unless I use them myself and this really is something I’ve been waiting for since I started back in 2007. By the end of this post I think you’ll see what all the hubbub is about. Now that we got that out of the way, let’s continue.
The first thing you’ll do is add your Go Daddy account to import your current portfolio. Once you’ve added your Go Daddy account this bar will turn green and say “Success”
Everything in Protrada is real time, there aren’t a million different pages loading, it really is like running an application on your computer. There are plenty of other accounts you can link directly to Protrada as well for use in Monetization or Sales actions which I’ll discuss in a moment:
Protrada has one of the most revolutionary systems for viewing expired domain names, and like everything in the system – it’s all real-time and the interface is clean and easy to use.
Anything you input above, like only viewing sites that are PR 3, or sites with a CPC greater than $0.50 happens instantaneously. No more watching your entire screen go blank and waiting, it all happens as if you were running an application on your computer. One really slick feature is the ability to use math operators, if I only want to view sites with a PR higher than three I can enter this directly into the input box:
As you can see above, simply entering “>3” under PR allows me to view sites that have a PR greater than three. Along with really slick and instantaneous functions for sorting and viewing domain auctions they have a really nice filter tool that allows you to define complex filters to show you only domains that meet the criteria you are looking for. Say goodbye to spending all morning or evening staring at droplists, Protrada automates it all.
I’ve already setup a few filters that meet criteria that I typically look for every single day, now the filters do the work. As if that wasn’t cool enough – do I sound excited…that’s because I really am, this is incredible stuff here and I’m getting time back which is very valuable!
Let me introduce you to actions, my new best friend. Actions allow you to set a pre-defined paths for domains to follow after you acquire them.
You can decide if you want to monetize with Protrada or point to a Nameserver so you can build your own site or park with another provider. You can then specify if you’d like the domain to automatically be listed for sale or even appoint a broker to sell the name. This is a major game-changer and another huge time-saver. Many Domainers follow the same process when they acquire the name and not having to go through the process of changing name servers, creating a sales listing, etc. can save a lot of time.
Protrada also has a very cool feature that allows you to view your portfolio based on domain performance and find areas of potential improvement.
When you monetize with Protrada your domains will usually start as Dogs, but then as time goes-on they’ll become stars as they get indexed in search engines and see traffic and revenue climb. One of the absolutely coolest and most unique features that Protrada offers is the Live Trading Floor. I’m not currently live trading any names so I’ve taken a screenshot from the video on their site which shows what it looks like:
Your Live Trading Floor screen is broken-down into three panels, Losing, Winning, and Watchlist. I’ve never seen anything like this outside of stock and forex-trading software and it is one of the hottest features I’ve ever seen in any piece of online software, period. You can watch your auctions in real-time and follow the action and make changes directly through the interface.
All-and-all Protrada has gone above and beyond, and beyond again. This is a truly game-changing platform, it has already changed the way I manage my portfolio and look at expired domains and I am confident you’ll be equally impressed.
